High Carbon Spring Steel Wire is a non-alloy steel wire that is not plated or coated. It is made from a metal alloy consisting of various amounts of carbon and iron. While other elements may be present, they are in small quantities that do not affect the wire's physical properties.
Carbon steel wire with low carbon content has similar properties to iron, making it soft and easily formed. However, as the carbon content increases, the wire becomes stronger, harder, and less ductile. It also becomes more difficult to weld and less resistant to high temperatures.
There are four types of carbon steel wire: low (mild) carbon steel, medium-carbon steel, high carbon steel wire, and very high carbon steel wire. Each type has specific uses due to their differing properties. For example, high carbon steel wire is commonly used in the production of drill bits, saws, masonry nails, as well as wood and metal cutting tools.
Steel wire rope, which consists of several strands or rods of steel twisted together, is another application of high carbon spring steel wire. The strands themselves are made up of steel wires laid together in a helical structure. There are various types of steel wire rope available, depending on construction and specifications.
The raw material for high carbon spring steel wire includes #45, #55, #65Mn, #70, #82a, and other similar materials. The tensile strength of the wire varies depending on its diameter, ranging from 1300-2000N for 1.4-4.0mm wire to 1600-2000N for 0.3-1.0mm wire.
The wire is available in different packaging options, such as rolls, spools, paper cards, etc., with varying weights ranging from 10kg to 1000kg. The surface of the wire can be bright polish, plain color, electric galvanized, or hot dipped galvanized.
High Carbon Spring Steel Wire is commonly used in various applications, including springs, mattresses, steel wire rope, mesh making, and razor inside wire that requires a hard wire. It is also suitable for prestressed concrete steel wire with high tensile strength.
